Sponsor me - Sun Salutations
Now I’m not prepared to wear the orange lycra unless you’re prepared to sponsor me a ridiculous amount of money apart from the fact I don’t actually own any, do you? Further, although we have enjoyed a glorious indian summer the chances of us performing on the beach are pretty slim. So for your info, one sequence with the left leg followed by the sequence with right leg equals one round. I have been in training, so to speak and managed 15 rounds successfully but could barely move the following day. If you’d like to sponsor me 10p a round (or more) I hope to do 40 rounds on Sunday 15th November at the TYA’s Surya Namaskar-athon. I am willing to consider sponsorship for how many days I won’t be able to move afterwards!
If you fancy coming along on the day you would be so welcome, not to mention there will be fantastic food, christmas gift ideas and mini treatments available. All proceeds go to MUKTI. This takes place at Whitesheet Primary School, Chapel Lane, Zeals nr Gillingham. For more info contact Arjuna (01747) 825011.
(I have room to spare in my car if you’d like a lift.x)

Meditation, “to be” or, “not to be” that is the question.
The other day I was out running and I found myself wondering about meditation. (Before I go any further, though, I must clarify that although I paint a picture of athleticism with the word running, I am more of a trotter/jogger in terms of speed. I mean I do go faster than a brisk walk but I couldn’t quite give Paula Ratcliffe much of a “run” for her money!)
During the first ten minutes of running my mind is usually full of conversations. Those I have just left at the house, things I need to do, clients, friends and blah blah blah! But it’s one of those incredible things that happen, for me anyway, for after about ten to fifteen minutes of running, my mind becomes clear.
I’m convinced it’s something to do with the repetitive nature of the whole experience. There is the rhythmic slap, slap, slap of my trainers on the concrete and the swoosh, swoosh, swoosh of my arms as they move back and forth against my body. At some point my breath settles in to this lovely manageable pace of breathing whilst running and then my mind surrenders. There is nothing, nothing to think about except for being completely with this and in this “body experience” that is running.

Title: Inviting Silence
How to find inner stillness and calm
Author: Gunilla Norris
ISBN: 184413575-6
Price: £ 6.99 or less at Play.com
Most of us who have some interest in the spiritual aspects of life have read many books–probably too many books!
Rarely in a lifetime do you encounter a gem, this book with a deceptively simple style in which everything non-essential has been pared away reads like poetry and yet it is profound.
It will inspire you to re-engage with meditation if you have tried it and failed or to begin if you have never attempted it.
Concepts and insights like this can only be gathered by someone who has spent a great deal of time in silent contemplation.
Hard won truths achieved through consistent practice shine out in every page.
A book you will want to share with others–a thing of beauty.

The Vital Flow of Water – Are You Getting Enough?
Water is all about a natural flow. Rivers flow towards the sea, the tides ebb and flow and we too are part of nature’s great flow. As human beings, sustaining the flow of our health and the well being of the physical body depends on an adequate supply of water and nutrients.
Water is vital.
Water is vital when you begin to consider all the processes in the body that require fluid. Some are more obvious than others. Our body as a whole consists of 50-75% water. On a daily basis we loose moisture through the breath in expiration, through the skin when we sweat and through the urine when we go to the toilet. Other moisture vital areas to mention include our mouths with saliva, our eyes with tears and mucus producing sites such as the lungs and vagina. These areas of the body we know and are able to relate to very readily but there are many other hidden internal processes that also require us to be hydrated for example the metabolism of fat, the regulation of body temperature and the lubrication of the discs in between the vertebrae in the spine.
